Evidence-Based Therapy, Tailored to You
My Approach
Effective therapy isn't about applying the same set of techniques to every person. I use evidence-based approaches while considering your goals, experiences, identities, relationships, and the patterns keeping you stuck.
My work is active and collaborative. I'll help you understand why we're using a particular approach, and we'll make decisions about treatment together.
-
A central approach in my work with OCD and exposure-based treatment.
ERP helps you change the cycle between fear and the behaviors you use to feel safe, certain, or in control. Together, we'll identify triggers, compulsions, avoidance, reassurance seeking, and other patterns that provide short-term relief but keep fear going over time.
We'll collaboratively develop opportunities to approach feared thoughts, feelings, sensations, foods, or situations while practicing new ways of responding.
-
ACT helps you develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than spending your life trying to eliminate or control them. We'll work on increasing psychological flexibility and making choices guided by your values—even when discomfort or uncertainty comes along for the ride.
-
CBT helps us understand connections among your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and environment. We'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and experiment with different ways of thinking and responding.
-
DBT-informed strategies can help you understand and navigate intense emotions, tolerate distress, communicate effectively, and respond more intentionally rather than automatically.
-
Relationships and life experiences can influence how we understand ourselves and cope with distress. Interpersonal approaches help us explore relationship patterns, communication, connection, roles, and how your relationships may interact with the concerns bringing you to therapy.
-
Our early and ongoing relationships can shape how we understand ourselves, other people, safety, and connection. When relevant, we'll explore these patterns with curiosity and consider how they may be influencing your present relationships and experiences.
